Anastasiia Motina | Painting

Anastasiia Motina was born in Moscow to a family of artists, and since childhood, she has been interested in the world of art. She graduated from the Art Lyceum and entered the Surikov Art Academic Institute in Moscow. There, she graduated in 2022 with a diploma in painting and muralism.

In her work, she discovers different topics, but the main unifying factor for Anastasiia is a real impression, perhaps at first glance, from insignificant events. It can be anything—an impression of a place or people, of world art, literature, history, or nature.

The most interesting thing in the process of conceiving a work is to catch this real moment, which contains an unusual and maybe unique combination of space and time, which may never happen again, but any viewer will feel and recognize it.

If she is asked briefly to describe her creative practice, she can say that she is interested in the combination and transition from magical realism to surrealism. To catch a sense of reality, to transform it, to lay down an idea, both plastic and semantic, and to launch a whole chain of

associations in the viewer - this is the process from which her works are born.
