Ángela Vargas (Cali, Colombia 1991), artistically known as Geli, is a visual artist whose work explores themes of migration, identity, and inclusion. Her artistic journey has been marked by an interdisciplinary approach that combines research and creation. With over a decade of experience, Geli has traveled the world to enrich her artistic vision and broaden her perspective. Her journey began in Cuba, where she specialized in the arts and explored the migration phenomenon of the 1994 rafters, a turning point in her interest in displacement stories. Later, in Chile, she deepened her studies with a master's degree in arts research, focusing on the experiences of Colombian migration. In Berlin, she researched Ukrainian migrant women who arrived due to the war, addressing their experiences of resilience and adaptation. Her work has been exhibited in multiple countries, including Spain, the United States, Chile, Mexico, Argentina, and Colombia. Each piece invites the viewer to reflect on the complexities of leaving home, the richness of cultural diversity, and the construction of new identities in foreign lands. She currently resides in Málaga, Spain, where she continues to research and create at the intersection of art and migration, inspiring conversations about belonging, inclusion, and transculturation.
