Jordi Jon (b. 1996), a documentary photographer and journalist from Barcelona, combines a creative approach to journalism with his roles as a National Geographic Explorer and co-founder of MÓN, an environmental visual journalism organization. His work advocates for environmental preservation. With a focus developed during his studies in visual journalism, Jordi Jon has dedicated his lens and word to capturing stories that intertwine human experiences with environmental narratives.
His seminal project, “Eroding Franco,” is a documentary exploration of the lasting environmental impact of Franco's regime in Spain. Jordi Jon delves into the complex interplay between the regime's policies and the ecological consequences. His work shows how the prioritization of economic growth, manifested in rampant agro-industry, mass tourism, and construction booms, catalyzed the widespread desertification crisis that Spain is facing today.
