Lisa Rommé | Sculpture & Installation
Lisa Rommé explores the theme of archaic fears, exploring mystical and paranormal realms, magical rituals, and ancient practices. Her focus extends to prejudices, omens, and legends from diverse cultures, incorporating astrological phenomena.
Lisa incorporates alchemical rituals, tarot cards, and blends of herbal and mineral mixtures in her artistic practice. Frequently utilizing antique objects from the 18th and 19th centuries, she finds significance in each item, believing they carry the memories of the era.
Categorized as “Le cabinet de curiosités” (French for a cabinet/room of curiosities), her practice showcases unique, surprising objects and rarities. Since 2017, her olfactory installations have explored existential concepts such as death, old age, poverty, fame, love, envy, nostalgia, and pride. Using scents, textures, colors, light, and temperature, she builds associative series, impacting subconscious perception, emotions, and memory.
In her immersive approach, every viewer becomes an active participant, bridging the gap with their own memories and emotions through tactile engagement and interaction with art.
