Noa Brodsky - Portrait

Noa Brodsky is a 24-year-old artist from Santiago de Chile. She was born in a family context that promoted creative development, since her mother is an artist and her grandmother was an architect. From an early age, she demonstrated an artistic curiosity that led her to study Visual Arts at the Pontificia Universidad Católica in Chile. After completing her studies, she decided to get a teaching degree so she could share her passion for art. Being fascinated by soft pastels, she began to explore the possibilities of this material to create abstract post-minimalist paintings where color is the protagonist. Noa currently works as an art teacher in addition to developing her artistic career. She has participated in national collective exhibitions ("Espectro", 2022), art fairs (2023), and in 2024 she presented her first individual exhibition called "Huellas de Luz".

Questioning the limit, the transcendence of color, and the need for a visual narrative are three of the problems that Noa proposes to visualize in her art to create an abstract space where the observer explores their sensibilities and perceptions. This intimate experience of interpretation is guided by the phenomenon of color, understood as the maximum abstraction and a transmitter of internal energy. Likewise, the color fields coexist in the plane with the line, which marks a limit that challenges the defined and diffuse nature of the work.

Noa works with soft pastels in powder format, white paper, and/or glass. In her works with paper, the pigment dyes spread with the hand (arm and body), leaving the energy of the body gesture inscribed, while in the pure glass works, the pigment is deposited directly on it, inverting the presence of the body movement prior to the formation of the stain.

From abstraction and post-minimalism, she has sought to propose complexities that are outside the representative approach, where the narrative elements have been reduced to a minimum. In this way, the work becomes a silent body that communicates only by existing in space and being observed.
