Rachel Jag | Painting, Digital Art

Rachel Jag, a self-taught artist currently residing in Vienna, was born in Russia in 1985. After graduating from Sigmund Freud High School, she pursued studies at "Graphische," a college for Print, Prepress, and Media Technology. Subsequently, she worked as a graphic designer and web developer. Early in her life, Rachel engaged in music projects as a singer and songwriter, eventually finding her way into visual arts inspired by impactful melodies. She explores the interplay of color and sound, transitioning to the visual arts.

The artist translates fragments of compositions into shape and color combinations, capturing rhythmic elements guided by her inner voice. Her works, often delicate and subtle, also encompass moments of bold drama.

Rachel's artistic philosophy centers on receptivity rather than imposing personal preferences. She views her artwork as a careful approach to the undiscovered or unknown, eschewing a singular interpretation or message. She emphasizes that answers may emerge emotionally, sometimes months, years, or never after completion.

"The essence of a short moment, or even a strangely familiar sound, may lead to a very deep artistic process."

For Rachel, the allure lies in exploring the unknown and transforming a fleeting inspiration into something with a life of its own. Intuition guides her, and every step in the process is spontaneous. The communication between the artist, her inspiration source, and the creation on paper opens doors to new, unseen realms and unexplored fields.
