Rio Skor | Sculpture

Rio Skor, a contemporary sculptor, began her artistic journey early. At age 7, she was accepted to Art School and later graduated from the Moscow Architectural Institute in 2006. At 27, she co-founded an architectural atelier, applying her artistic vision as Chief Architect. However, it was during her time in Montreal, Quebec, that she rediscovered her connection to sculpting. Through the lost-wax casting technique, she crafts figurative bronze pieces. In 2023, she pursued a hand-carving course in Carrara, Italy, expanding her repertoire to include marble. She currently lives and works in Montreal.

Rio Skor's sculptures capture subtle moments of emotional transformation, depicting the fleeting joys of life. They invite viewers to pause and immerse themselves in moments of inner reflection, evoking sensations of serenity, mindfulness, and the quiet happiness found in connection. As an artist, Rio follows the unhurried rhythms of creation, allowing each sculpture to unfold naturally. She finds solace in working with natural materials—clay, bronze, and marble—and uses the time-honored lost wax method for bronze and hand-carving techniques for marble. This patient approach gives each piece the time it needs to develop fully, reflecting the organic flow of life. In a world that often rushes by, Rio's work celebrates the beauty and power of presence, encouraging viewers to rediscover the richness found in life's quiet whispers and tender exchanges.
