Yang Wei Han | Photography
Yang Wei Han is a photographer living and working between Beijing and Los Angeles. He specializes in recreating seemingly ordinary moments of daily life, the complex meanings of which are often revealed later in remembrance. Consisting of a wide range of subject matters and photographic processes, his work continuously investigates the elusive nature of memory imagery and the photographic medium’s foundations and materiality.
Yang Wei Han (b. 1999, Dalian, China) received an MFA from the California Institute of the Arts and a BA from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China. Yang’s work has been exhibited at venues including the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art in San Francisco, CA; California Institute of the Arts in Valencia, CA; Mexican Center for Culture and Cinematic Arts in Los Angeles, CA; Palos Verdes Art Center in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA; and Biola University in La Mirada, CA. He is the recipient of awards and residencies, including a 2023 Kala Art Institute Residency, a 2023 JumpstArt Grant, and a 2022 Bartman Fund Project Grant.
